Outdoor Counseling Sessions in Minneapolis with Tammie Rosenbloom, MSW, LICSW

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Where is the walking location? Where do we meet?
Many people enjoy sessions at one of the chains of lakes in Minneapolis. Sessions are also conducted at other walking paths in the Metro area. Included are directions if you want to meet at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. We meet outside of Caribou Coffee at 3044 Excelsior Boulevard, Minneapolis, MN 55416. Caribou is located at the intersection of Lake Street and Excelsior Boulevard in Calhoun Commons. You may also call me at 612-987-5258 when you get to Caribou Coffee to confirm our meeting location.
Q: How is this different from traditional therapy?
The only difference is the client and the therapist conduct therapy while they are outside walking instead of in an office setting. Outside of that, and wearing a pair of tennis shoes, nothing else changes. Many clients share that the act of moving as we walk side by side helps to process areas of their life that may feel “stuck.” Clients enjoy the meditative aspects of being in nature and walking alongside the water. You will feel better after a 50-minute walk.
Q: What about bad weather?
If the weather prohibits us from walking outdoors, I have indoor alternatives for walking. I also have an office in Minnetonka at 12301 Whitewater Drive, Suite 30, Minnetonka MN 55343. After experiencing Walk Talk Therapy, most clients are reluctant to return to an office setting for their session.
Q: How long is the Walk & Talk session?
The sessions are 50 minutes.
Q: Typical times?
Your choice, based on availability. Some choose a session before work, as sunrise can be quite moving or after work or around their lunchtime. One of my main goals is to make this as convenient as possible.
Q: How do I schedule an appointment?
To schedule an appointment, please click the “Schedule Appointment” button below. You can also reach Tammie at Walk Talk Therapy (612) 987-5258 or email her at tammie@walktalktherapymn.com
Q: What is the cost of Walk & Talk Therapy?
50-minute sessions are $170.
Q: Do you accept insurance?

I offer self-pay and I do not accept insurance. It is recommended that you check with your insurance carrier to determine if our services would be covered under Out of Network Benefits. Your counseling services may be eligible for reimbursement through medical spending or health care savings accounts.

Q: What about my confidentiality?
Candidates are clients who feel comfortable discussing their concerns in open spaces where confidentiality can not be guaranteed. If one of us sees somebody we know, we just casually say ‘hello’ and keep on going. We don’t slow down and people realize we are in a deep conversation. We are two people walking and talking; there is nothing to say this is a therapy session.
Q: I am embarrassed because I am overweight, what if I cannot do it?
I conduct my Walk Talk Therapy sessions with clients of all shapes and sizes, genders and ages – from clients in their teens to clients in their 80′s. I have done Walk Talk sessions with clients who are much younger and fitter than I am, and clients who are morbidly obese. A Walk Talk session is about you, your pace, and your comfort. The focus is on the therapy process and not on competition or walking until exhausted. Together we will move you toward a healthier way of relating to your mind, body and spirit!
Q: Don’t you get tired walking with clients all day?
I find it energizing to help people. I have my own exercise routine that I do several days a week and there is no need for concern on my part. The focus is on you and your process.
Q: What is your Therapy approach and style?
I want you to feel better as quickly as possible and I feel this is best accomplished using a blend of cognitive and behavioral therapy also known as CBT.  CBT is a therapy approach that helps people change unhealthy thoughts, emotions and beliefs. CBT focuses on the here and now with directive guidance. CBT is a researched treatment that has been shown to be effective with a variety of diagnoses.
