The Genesis of Walk Talk Therapy
Because of my love for fitness and the outdoors, I imagined starting a therapy practice that combined counseling, walking and nature. I personally felt the positive effects of walking with my friends and I knew it would be beneficial for people with mental health and motivation concerns.
I noticed when people walked outdoors side by side, they seemed more open to being vulnerable and honest. I am passionate about Walk Talk Therapy because it is a holistic approach that enhances the emotional, physical and spiritual lives of others.
I am happily married and I am the mom of three children. I have juggled work, parenting and an active family life filled with sports, community and religious activities. I am someone who understands the challenges of parenting in the age of social media, sports demands and academic requirements. As my neighbor, a mother of three teens told me, “Tammie, you are someone who gets it.”
I am passionate about my physical and emotional health. I walk my own talk. I enjoy being active as a runner, walking with friends, practicing yoga or meeting new people. I like to spend time at my cabin where I can be found water-skiing, drinking coffee on the dock or reading a good book on the hammock. Any time I am near water, it makes me happy.
